Cabrillo Log

The 'Plot > Cabrillo Log' menu-subitem allows you to plot a log-file of QSOs in Cabrillo-format (Link will open in your Browser), favoured by contest operators, on the Online and Overlay maps. Most Contest-Types are catered for. The file should follow standard Cabrillo specifications. Most files outputed by popular amateur radio logging programmes will be suitable. The Cabrillo format has no facility to provide a means of storing the position of the received call (except in certain cases where the Grid Locator is used as part of the contest exchange), and so the log will be geocoded using callsign-positions derived from the callbook database. Any Grid Locators in the contest exchange will be given priority, though, as these are likely to be more accurate than the postcode-position found in the callbook address. Certain QSO-lines in the file will not be added to the log: those with coding errors, non-VK calls, portable calls, and calls not found in the callbook database. Received-callsigns for each QSO will be shown on the map with Band Markers. There are 6 different types of Band Marker. The callsign will be shown as a popup-tooltip when your mouse hovers over the Band Marker. You can turn the Mouse Position Label on or off by clicking 'Mapping > Online and Overlay Mapping Options > Show Map Mouse-Position'.

Right-click the marker to perform a Spatial Query. You can change the type of marker used for Band Markers by clicking 'Help > Options > Bands > Choose Band x Marker-Type'. There are 37 different marker-types available.

Band Markers are added to the Callsign 'layer' above the Online and Overlay maps, which can be controlled independently of the 6 others. Use the menu-subitems below 'Markers' to temporarily hide or permanently clear the Callsign Markers.

The Cabrillo log is also shown in the 'Tables' tab. It is not connected in any way to the 'Main Log' or the 'Auxiliary Log'. Unlike those two logs, when a Cabrillo log is loaded with the 'Plot > Cabrillo Log' menu-subitem, a number of extra log-fields are shown that are common in a typical contest-log: RST sent and received, and contest-exchange sent and received. If you import this log into the 'Main Log' or the 'Auxiliary Log', these extra log-fields will be discarded.

You can sort the log by clicking on any of the column-headers. If you would like a copy of a QSO-line in the table, right-click and choose 'Copy to Clipboard' from the context-menu that appears. The relevant line is then copied to the system-clipboard, and you can utilise the data by Pasting in 'All Programs > Accessories > Notepad' or any other programme that accepts copied text.
