Beam Tab-Page

The 'Beam' Tab-Page is used to plot the beamwidth of an antenna on to the Great Circle Map. It only displays when the Projection has been set to 'Azimuthal Equidistant' in the 'Setup' tab-page'.

When you are parsing a Callsign in the 'Callsign' page, or a Country in the 'Country' page, the bearing value will be set by those routines. You can also enter a manual value for the Bearing.

The Beamwidth value that you use will depend on the beamwidth of your antenna. This value can be found by finding the -3dB points on the polar plot of your antenna.

Set the Transparency to a suitable value that lets you see the beamwidth and the map-section beneath it.

You can also plot a Bearing Line, by checking the 'Plot Bearing Line' check-box. If the bearing-line was initiated by a Callsign or Country search, then the bearing line will be plotted from the map-center to the identified entity. Otherwise, the bearing line will be plotted from the map-center to the edge of the map.

You can also initiate a Bearing Line by right-clicking the map, and choosing 'Bearing Line to this Position' from the list of commands that are shown.

Click any of the Color boxes to change a color. Color-values apply to the currently-chosen background map, and are remembered.
