Export Vector Map Table to CSV File
This command will save the current state of the table within the 'Vector Map' tab as a CSV (Comma-Separated Values) file, that you can then use in other external applications. This is especially useful in 'Contest Mode', 'External Logger' mode, or 'Log Plotting' mode, as it saves the current state of the visible checkboxes, giving each unchecked box a value of 'False', and each checked box a value of 'True'. There will also be an additional 'IdNo' column included, which contains the FIPs value for that row, and a 'Contest' or 'UDP' column, which contains a binary mask for the current state of 6 columns of checkboxes, even if less than 6 columns are currently on show.
The contents of the table within the 'Vector Map' tab will be saved exactly as it is currently shown, so if you wish to change the order of rows, you can click any of the column-headers to sort by the values of that column. You can't sort by checkbox-status, though. Once any sorting has been performed, click 'Export > Export 'Vector Map' Table to CSV File' on the upper Menu-Bar. After a short processing period, a window will appear that lets you navigate to the destination-folder for the CSV file. Enter a suitable filename in the 'Filename' box, and choose a suitable file-suffix with the 'Save as type' control. If in doubt, leave at the default '.csv' setting. After saving, you are given the option to open the saved CSV file. This will use whatever program you have set as the default handler for that file-type. Note that although it is called a 'comma' separated file, I have chosen to use the Pipe-character (|) as the separating character, as this is less likely to clash with any other data values.
If you do not have a program that can open CSV files, or if you are not happy with the one you have, I would recommend that you try 'CSVed', which you can download from https://csved.sjfrancke.nl/index.html (Link will open in your Browser). Although a free program, I hope that if you like it, as I am sure you will, you send Sam Francke a small donation. Usage Tip: load your file in 'CSVed', and of it doesn't look right, change the 'Set Separator' in the 'Start and Item Edit' toolbar-tab, then click 'Ctrl-R' to Reload the file.
