GOM - the Global Overlay Mapping System

How to Print Maps

Printing the map on screen is the same as printing any other web-page. If your browser has a Print Preview facility, this is best used, as it gives better control of the final output. The maps are composed of frames, with the navigation, main toolbar, and map each being in a separate frame. If you have the choice, the 'Only Print Selected Frame' option is the best one to select, as then only the map layers currently displayed will be used for printing. Otherwise, you can choose 'As Laid Out On Screen' for a print that includes the toolbars. This can be useful if you wish to record which layers are currently selected.

Some of the maps are quite large, and are not wholy visible without using the scroll-bars. If your browser will not allow you to select which section of the page to use for printing, you might need to use a different software package to print the complete map. I would be interested to hear user's recommendations for software that does this job easily. A more basic alternative is to do a screen-capture, by pressing the 'PrintScreen' button. This will put the current screen image on to the system Clipboard. You can then open a suitable Graphics program, paste the clipboard into a new image, and print using the Graphics program's facilities.
