Description

Map Markers are labels that you can add anywhere on the map. They are very versatile: you can make them in different sizes, with different colors and fonts and borders, and your own marker text. The style of each Marker is set individually, so they don't all have to look the same. You can even add a clock under the text, to show the current local time at the Marker position. The Time Format used for the clock is the one selected on the 'User' tab-page of the 'Settings Menu'. If you have checked the 'Add 'DST' Suffix To Time' control on the 'User' tab-page, then the letters 'DST' will be suffixed to the formatted time-value, when appropriate to do so, dependent on the Time Zone, which is selected from the exact Marker-position.

To create a Map Marker, open the Settings Menu and go to the 'Markers' tab-page. There are a few provided to start you off. Right-click a line to delete ones that you don't want, or select one by clicking its line, then change the visibility below to 'Marker is Not Visible'.

To edit an existing Marker, left-click it in the table above, then alter values in the panel below. DON'T FORGET to click the 'Save Edits to Selected Map Marker' after any changes, or those changes will be lost.

To alter a Marker's colors, point-type, label font, and other settings, select it first, then click the 'Edit Marker Color and Font Setting' button. A small window will appear.

To create a new Map Marker, enter the required values in the 'Add/Edit Map Marker' panel, then click the 'Create New Map Marker' button. A new Marker will be added to the table. You should then edit the values as you wish.

If you are not sure of a marker position, an easy way to create a new Map Marker is to right-click the map at the place where you want the new marker, and select the option 'Add Map Marker at this Position'. A new Marker will be created. You should then go to 'Settings Menu > Markers' and edit the values to suit.

The Info Bar 'Marker Info' page (Shortcut: IR) lists all the Markers, even if they are not currently plotting on the map. It also lists a variety of information about each Map-Marker: name, position, Grid Locator, Time Zone, Local Time, Dawn, Sunrise, Sunset, Solar Midnight, Moon Rise, Moon Set, current Sun Altitude, Sun Azimuth, Total Daylight, and the Direction and Distance of the Marker from the User Location. The time values are shown in Local Time, UTC, and at the corresponding time for the User (which is your time!). It also includes the 'Time Difference From User', which can be useful when organizing or estimating the best time to contact someone at that location. Map-Markers are added and edited in the 'Settings Menu > Markers' page.

FAQ

Question: When I open the Layers Menu, there aren't any colored boxes to click on the Map Marker line !

Answer: Individual Map Markers can have their values set individually, so there is no need for Point, Line, or Label settings color-boxes on the Map Marker line in the Layers Menu. To change the style for any Map Marker, open the Settings Menu and go to the 'Markers' tab-page. You can, however, turn the visibility of all Map Markers on or off using the Check Box on the Map Marker line in the Layers Menu.
