Description
This layer shows flags of the world, for all countries. The flags, which are of a uniform size, were made by me for my various software programs. They are also available for sale.
The 'Time Mapper UHD' recognizes two types of countries: 'Standard Countries', as defined in the United Nations list of sovereign states and dependent territories, and 'Amateur Radio Countries', as defined by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) for their 'DXCC' operating awards, and subsequently adopted as ADIF Entities. There are five parts to the criteria that decides what constitutes an 'Amateur Radio Country': Political Entities, Geographical Entities, Special Areas, Ineligible Areas, Deletion Criteria. A full discussion of this can be seen at: http://www.arrl.org/files/file/DXCC%20Rules_no%20links.pdf
Country Ranking
There is never enough room on a world map to show all of the flags, so some form of Ranking must be used to set an order of flag preference.
The 'Time Mapper UHD' ranks countries by their population, and shows flags for the larger countries first. As the software includes anti-overlap routines for flags in the same map-layer, this means that flags with a lower rank will not be shown.
A ranking by population may not please everyone, of course, so facility is provided for the User to set his own ranking order. To do this, open the 'Settings Menu' and visit the 'Country Rank' tab-page.
There are two independent lists: one for standard Countries, and the other for Ham Radio Countries. If you wish to change the ranking of a country, just select it in the list, then choose a new position with the 'Ranking' control, then click 'Change Rank to New Value'. You can revert all changes by clicking the 'Restore All Ranks to Default Values' button.
There are 6 overlays available: Standard Countries - Large, Standard Countries - Medium, Standard Countries - Small, Amateur Radio Countries - Large, Amateur Radio Countries - Medium, Amateur Radio Countries - Small, selectable through the 'Additional Layer Features' control on the 'Layers Menu'.
This map-layer has no user Style-adjustment, apart from visibility.
