Load Log to Auxiliary Log
To load a log to the Auxiliary Log, click 'Auxiliary Log > Load Log to Auxiliary Log' on the upper MenuBar. If the log already contains some entries, a Dialog Box will show, giving you the option to overwrite all existing entries with the new log, or to append the entries in the new log to the existing entries. A window will then show that allows you to navigate to a log file within your computer, and select it for import.
There are no file-suffix requirements or name restrictions in any form at all: you can import any file, and the program will try and determine whether it contains a valid log. If not, the file will be rejected, and an information box will report this.
The program can import two types of log: ADIF, or Cabrillo. You don't need to specify the contents of a log file: the program determines what type of log it is automatically. It will also reject files that it cannot identify as valid logs. The data that it finds in the file will be parsed by the type of Contest, if available. This is especially useful for a Cabrillo when trying to determine which state a county with a county-code in the contest exchange derives from. Parsing an ADIF file is simpler, as specific values are held in tags designed solely to contain that data-type, so there is no guessing. Cabrillo logs, on the other hand, can contain different numbers of fields for each QSO line, and those fields can be used for different purposes, so we rely much more on the type of contest, found in the log-header, to work out what is going on.
Once the log has been imported, you can view its current summary by clicking the 'Log Summary' tab, or view the log in the 'Auxiliary Log' tab. Right-clicking a line in the log shows a menu window with other available actions.
